grew up in Indian Lakes Estate in Okemos, and I love the large lots of homes and the mature trees. Many of these homes have been owned by the same owners for years and years (like my parents). So, there are some opportunities for rehabbers or renovators to go in and update the places. The neighborhood has a small lake, so some homes are on the waterfront, creating a very serene and peaceful setting. A salient feature of the neighborhood is its proximity to Michigan State University…just a hop, skip, and a jump away! Grocery, big box stores, and shopping are convenient as well! Okemos Schools are highly rated, and so many families opt to live here for the schools.

moved here from Austin, TX in 2007. Even though I miss my bluebonnets in the spring, I have grown to love Maumelle and have made great friends here. My favorite thing about Maumelle is Lake Willastein and all of the bike paths that run through the neighborhoods from one end of the city to the other. The bike paths around the entire three bodies of water on Lake Willastein is 2.1 miles.
I live across the bike path along the north shore of the smallest body of water which is .75 of a mile around. My husband, myself and our dogs love to sit out on our deck and watch the people run, bike and walk their dogs. My best friend’s father actually helped design Maumelle and the lake. She still has the picture of the lake she colored with crayons when she was a little girl. I feel very honored to live here and to know her and her family.

wanted to take a moment to share my deep appreciation for the incredible beauty of Missouri’s four seasons, especially its vibrant and enchanting fall. Missouri’s autumn is a sight to behold. The way the leaves change into a tapestry of warm hues, the cool breeze in the air, and the crunch of leaves beneath your feet—it’s a magical time of year that fills my heart with gratitude. I’m thankful for the opportunity to experience the following seasons in this beautiful state:Spring: The awakening of life, as flowers bloom and the world bursts into color again.
Summer: Lazy days by the lakes and the hum of cicadas, creating lasting memories under the sun.
Fall: The breathtaking transition, with leaves ablaze in red, orange, and yellow, a reminder of nature’s artistry.
Winter: The quiet stillness, the gentle snowfall, and the cozy moments by the fireplace.
Missouri’s four seasons constantly remind us of the ever-changing beauty of the world. It’s a privilege to witness and cherish these transformations each year.
I hope you, too, find joy and inspiration in the wonder of nature’s seasons, wherever you may be. May this fall be filled with awe and appreciation for the world’s splendor.
