A Spartan Alumna

A

s a Spartan alumna, I can proudly say that I thoroughly enjoyed attending the Ocean Township School District. I first attended the Wayside Elementary School where I still have many childhood memories from! From playing out in recess, to learning how to write in cursive in third grade, and creating friendships, Wayside was a great environment to learn in. The teachers were all supportive and helped with the transition to middle school seamless.

The Ocean Township Middle School is compromised of all the elementary schools: Wayside, Oakhurst, and Wanamassa. During middle school, I met new students, who soon became good friends, had my first locker, and even had a cafeteria. When I became a high school student, the responsibilities grew and I can truly say that all of the teachers and staff thoroughly prepared me for college.

I was in advanced and honors classes and truly felt that the small class sizes were extremely beneficial. The camaraderie among the students at Ocean Township High School was definitely that of family. I am truly thankful for the life long relationships that I have made at these schools.

Waterfront Living and Fun Times in Jourdan River Shores

I

am a long time resident of Hancock County, having grown up in beautiful Bay St. Louis. My husband and I purchased a waterfront home in Jourdan River Shores subdivision eight years ago and I now specialize in selling properties in this fantastic fun-filled neighborhood! I can honestly say that living here is literally like being on vacation seven days a week and it is very conveniently located just minutes from I-10, lovely old town Bay St. Louis, casinos, and beaches, not to mention a short distance from Gulfport, Slidell and New Orleans. Jourdan River Shores is a very family oriented neighborhood with both full time residents and many, many part time residents from all over the South. We have boating, water skiing, swimming, fishing, camping and lots of good family times almost year round! The beautiful Jourdan River can take you all the way to Bay St. Louis where you can dock at the new harbor and visit all the local sites, or you can travel upstream instead and pass thru popular McLeod Water Park and visit several local sand bars, a very popular activity for young and old. Come check us out!

If These Walls Could Talk

A

favorite downtown Waterloo meeting place has taken to heart the phrase “If these walls could talk”.  A historical depiction of iconic Waterloo moments and places covers the walls of On the Rocks located at 708 Jefferson Street. The owner, Patrick Plumley, is hoping to bring life, color and positivity to Waterloo. Plumley teamed up with friend Mike Marshall to cover the blank walls of this renovated downtown building – hoping to depict a historical catalog of Waterloo with a modern element! The artist has invested 200+ hours to this masterpiece – showcasing the 4th Street Bridge, the Five Sullivan Brothers Convention Center, The Brown Derby Ballroom, the railroad and Lincoln Park and the iconic Starlite Drive-in Theatre. Woven through each mural are current day depictions as well – including the Irish Fest and more!  This bar owner and artist are allowing these walls to speak. Oh the stories they and business patrons can tell! This is a must see hot spot in downtown Waterloo!
