Dickens Comes Alive in Northport!

orthport offers many diversions from the hustle bustle that we have all come to dislike. One special experience sponsored by Northport is the Downtown Dickens event held during the Christmas season. Dickens characters really come alive! While walking in all your favorite shops, you can get a grilled hot dog and some popcorn and interact with characters from days long gone by (shop owners dressed up in Dickens costumes). There are bands, carriage rides and more! Downtown Northport is just around the corner from the historic Bellwood neighborhood. Picturesque Views Abound!

s I drive through the different parts of Smithtown every day, I can’t help but notice the wonderful scenery and beautiful views that abound everywhere. At the little bridge on Landing Avenue for example, one can see a different story every day. It might be kayakers navigating the river at high tide or ducks, geese and seagulls sunning themselves at the park. If you are lucky, you might even catch a few swans swimming with the tide. While England has Stonehenge and NYC has Manhattanhenge, Smithtown has Nissequoguehenge. There are a couple of times a year when the sun rises and sets perpendicular to the little bridge and over this section of the river. Truly a spectacular view!

aturday football is SERIOUS in Alabama. Riding around in the subdivision you can tell just as soon as Auburn starts playing. It is quiet as everyone starts watching TV. Then Saturday night Alabama comes on TV. Facebook and texting starts between family and friends. Auburn fans are talking about what a great game they watched and Alabama fans are talking about what is taking place on the field. We take pride in the Alabama teams winning.
