hat’s what it was like at the real estate closing for a brand new DSLD home in the Bridgewood Subdivision in Biloxi. I had the privilege to assist a great young family with purchasing their first home, a brand new home. They are so happy with their choice and the process it took to get them in their wonderful home. The builder, DSLD Homes, did a wonderful job ensuring they were happy every step of the way, including supplying a fully sodded front and back yard, which not all new home builders will provide. The happy new homeowners chose this community because they work on nearby Keesler Air Force Base and love the idea of being close to so many shopping, entertainment and dining options in the area. And the best part for them is their total mortgage payment is less than what they would pay in rent for a comparable property. A brand new home, a great community, wonderfully convenient to everything, a very pleasant budget choice….All smiles, all around!

enner, the city where I spent a good part of my childhood, is just about 14 miles west of New Orleans and has so much to offer. The history of Kenner begins around 1718 — The French found New Orleans and marked “Cannes Brulee” on maps upriver in the area known today as the City of Kenner. I have witnessed an amazing, beautiful transformation of this tight community, a city where everyone knows their neighbor and friends are family. Front porches and sidewalks are for sitting out and talking because you know someone who is related to someone else you know. If you need something, your neighbor has it and gladly offers. Backyards full of parties all year round. Where the rules are not so strict, but the residents expect manners. My children have very fond memories of growing up in Kenner, and often say that they only wish that they could raise their children in such a neighborhood. I am still very connected to many of the people that I grew up with over 40 years ago. We all raised our children together as well. A city where parents coach their children on the same fields that they played on as children themselves. Where everyone’s mother is…everyone else’s mother, too.
