Summer Ritual

I

f you’re like me you have countless memories of time spent along the coast. When I was little it meant walking the boards in Ocean City or summer vacations in Atlantic City. In high school, it was trips to Rehoboth Beach in Delaware. As I got older it was trips to Ocean City every weekend to crash on a friends couch.

That love for the beach never stopped. My husband and I purchased our first home when our boys were 1 and 4. Ever since, we have planted our roots here at the Jersey Shore. We’ve always loved the ocean with the dream to always own a home on the water. We never could imagine us owning until 3 years ago, 2 weeks before Sandy hit our lovely beaches. Lucky for us water never came in the house. Since then, the house is already shaping up and we are looking forward to a great summer!

Hummingbirds Galore

H

arkeys’ Valley is an area around the Chickalah; pronounced Cha-key-lah. It is about eight miles south of Dardanelle on Highway 27 in Yell County. Nestled at the foot of Spring and Chickalah Mountains, we have creeks, abundant wildlife, and more. We have a celebrity living out here. Harkeys’ Valley is home to Tusk, the Arkansas Razorbacks mascot!

I always enjoy watching animals and look forward to the arrival of the hummingbirds every year. We don’t have as many this year, but there are plenty to enjoy and they keep me making over two gallons of hummingbird food every other day! Life in the country is what suits me. Out here we garden, raise our own eggs, ride horses, go for horse drawn wagon rides, host cookouts, and enjoy porch time in our rocking chairs.

Great Place to Live and Exercise

I

have been driving past this community for years and I have never known how lovely a place this was. On my way through town, just off Raider Road, I pass a row of back yards. There is one backyard in particular that almost always has an exciting volleyball game going. Is this a club? Is this a team practicing? I always wonder. It looks like so much fun!

Colonial Square is an adorable collection of about 50 homes located in North Brunswick off of Raider Road which is the street that takes you to North Brunswick High School. The homes consist of 3 and 4 bedroom colonials, all with their own style and charm. If you like to walk or jog, have a pet or family or just enjoy getting fresh air what better place to enjoy it than right outside your door. This development is designed in a perfect loop. You can start from your own home and end at your front door. I myself, went for a walk and decided, hey…why not do the whole loop?

Colonial Square is in close proximity to schools, Costco, Target, ShopRite, Walmart, Routes 1 and 130, 10 minutes to the NJ Turnpike and 10 minutes to a new train station. If you are looking for an active community and convenient access to local businesses, this is the place. Colonial Square is a wonderful place to call home!
