he Kansas City Music Hall is located at 301 West 13th Street, downtown Kansas City. It is a gorgeous Art Deco style theater that was built in 1936. Just some spectacular architecture! My husband and I gave each other season tickets a few years ago to celebrate out anniversary. The shows are Broadway quality. We have been going for years and I can say, I probably only saw one that I didn’t love. They have bars on each floor for cocktails beforehand, coffee and snacks. Easy to park across the street in the auditorium garage. If you leave right after the show and bolt to your car, you can make it to Johnson County in 20 minutes! How lucky we are here in Kansas City to have such a gem!

o you enjoy baking with pecans? Mixing those delectable nuts in your pancake batter, chocolate chip cookie dough, or just plain ol’ snacking makes anything tastier! We have pecan trees sprinkled all over town. They do not produce every year, but when they do, it is bags and bags for your freezer. They also make excellent shade trees for those hot summer days!

ven after living is this special place for 30 years, I am still amazed at how few people actually know about this wonderful resource located just 20 miles northwest of Ann Arbor. The Pinckney Recreation Area encompasses thousands of acres of pristine forest land and many trails open to the public including the Potawatomi Trail and the Waterloo-Pinckney Trail. Trails pass through oak and pine forests, swamps and open meadows and offer some of the best hiking, cross country skiing, mountain biking and hunting in the State of Michigan.
The abundant state land surrounds over a dozen lakes, some with little or no private dwellings. I live on Half Moon Lake, which is an all sports lake connected to six other lakes by navigable channels. The deep lakes offer wonderful swimming, boating and fishing opportunities.
