9-11 Memorial

S

ee it, walk up to it, touch it, feel it. Time hesitantly stops when entering this memorial, as you suddenly remember where you were when you heard the news of this tragic event. It was a Tuesday and, of course, a sales meeting day for a lot of people in the real estate business. It all comes rushing back. We turned the television on just in time to see the second plane crash into the Trade Center. Confusion, terror, disbelief, sadness, anger – all these feelings and more.

I was so intrigued when I first discovered this memorial I didn’t even know it existed until about 18 months ago when I went to wash my car down the street and I happened to see a small sign “911 Memorial”. Located at 12401 Hemlock (125th and Antioch) this memorial was dedicated September 11, 2012 as the first phase of a larger project that will be one of the largest in the nation. The worst terrorist attack in American history. The twisted steel, names of the victims, timeline of events, much more than words can say. Take a short period of time to remember and you too will be moved. You can visit the memorial at 12401 Hemlock in Overland Park.
