“Best Town by a Dam Sight”

B

orn and raised in Sanford, I have seen many changes over the years. In May 2020, the biggest change happened when the Sanford Dam and Edenville Dams were breached after seven inches of rain fell in a very short period of time. It flooded many homes on both Wixom and Sanford Lake. The town and area communities rallied and did amazing fundraising, cleaning, and restoration. The town offers many variations of housing, from beautiful lakefront homes to houses on wooded acreage. Public schools offer great education and up-to-date technology. It was updated with an auditorium, auxiliary gym, and media center in the high school. The elementary school added four additional classrooms.

A Quaint Family Owned Bookstore Named in Honor of the Family’s First Dog

I

spent a little time in Fayetteville this week, so I stopped back in to visit Pearls, an independent family-owned bookstore just off the downtown square in Fayetteville. It was named in honor of the Jordan family’s first dog, Pearl. I love their mission statement “We believe that reading makes us better”!! You can feel the families’ affection for books in this charming spot. Visit their website below for more information.

Downtown Deco District in Tulsa

I

love Tulsa so very much! I’m not a native Tulsan but it only took one visit for me to make it my home! My family and I moved here some 32 years ago now! I love discovering new places and things to do here. One of my favorites is the Downtown Deco District in Tulsa! The buildings are full of history and outstanding architecture! It’s a must-see when visiting this area! The Majestic building has art all over it, if you click on the QR code while standing across the street it will become 3D! It’s immersive, fun, and unique!
