Want to See Buffalo? And Then Eat Ice Cream? Check out Prairie City

P

rairie City is a nice little town. I’m very familiar with the area because one of my best friends used to live here. I like to take my bike out and burn some calories on the trail outside town. There are buffalo roaming the trails, so you’ll never know what you’ll see. At the end of the trail is the Prairie Learning Center which is family friendly. Of course, after burning off all those calories, I have to stop by Goldie’s for one of their famous pork tenderloin sandwiches and some ice cream. A perfect afternoon!

Let’s Go Ice Skating

‘T

is the season to enjoy all Cedar Falls has to offer for winter fun. Bundle up warm and take a trip to go ice skating. We are lucky that the Young Arena in Waterloo has indoor skating to enjoy during the week and on the weekends. We also have an outdoor skating rink at Gateway Park right in downtown Cedar Falls. Stop by the Runners Flat only a few blocks away to rent a pair of skates and go enjoy the crisp cool air as you skate around and make memories to last a lifetime!

Streetcar Holiday Jam

I

love riding the Kansas City Street Car. I take advantage of this free ride whenever in the City Marker/Crossroads/Crown Center area. However, during the holidays it’s even extra special as you can jam to some free live Christmas music while riding the street car during select date and times. The music will include some traditional Christmas songs as well as covers and even some original music by local Kansas City artists. Some of the Christmas music styles you can experience are traditional, rock, country, folk, western swing, jazz, classical, and zydeco. Visit the Kansas City Streetcar website for specific dates and times.
