C-Street Becoming an Impressive Part of Town

W

hen staying in Springfield, having grown up there, I like to put on my running shoes and run through the city to see all of the changes that have taken place. Yesterday, my run took me through the MSU Campus, Park Central Square, and finally to Commercial Street, or “C-Street” as they apparently call it now. While C-Street is not the commercial street of my youth, with clothing stores, Cranks Drug Store, and Fire Station Number 2 (one of the fire stations where my father worked), today’s C-Street looks as if it is once again becoming a vital business district with restaurants, one-of-a-kind shops and businesses, and even a microbrewery. I always think it is important to appreciate the past, but at the same time, to look to the future to realize the potential of what things might become and it looks as if C-Street is becoming an impressive part of town. Best wishes to all of the merchants there!
