ouisiana’s largest fish hatchery, Booker Fowler Fish Hatchery, has released over 41 million fish into different public water bodies throughout the state since its first year in the fish production business back in 1997. Booker Fowler is home to the Louisiana Lunker Bass Program and produces Florida largemouth bass in addition to catfish, striped bass and paddlefish. Interested in learning a little extra? Less than half an hour from Alexandria, Booker Fowler Fish Hatchery offers free admission to their visitor center which includes hand painted murals, riverine exhibits, estuarine exhibits, bass exhibits and turtle exhibits and is open year round, Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m to 3 p.m. Grab your family, friends, or little one’s school class and come get the tour!
