Just What Johnston Has Been Missing

T

he first few businesses in the Johnston Town Center are just beginning to open, and we couldn’t be more excited to see how this area will develop. This 20-acre site, located at 62nd Street and Merle Hay Road, will offer many options for entertainment, dining, shopping, and so much more. The center of the project is the new City Hall building with its interesting architectural details and thoughtful planning. The site nods to the Johnston community’s roots and historical ties to the historical Johnston Station railroad while offering a modern feel with solar panels on the roof and interior wood trim details that are milled from the trees formerly on the site. Whether you’re taking a break while enjoying the local bike trails, cooling off on the large splash pad in the summer, skating on the synthetic ice rink in the winter, shopping at the farmers market, or taking in a movie or concert on the lawn, this area will have something for everyone. Enjoy a glass of wine from The Cork, a craft beer from Backpocket Pin and Pixel, and coffee from Blue Bean, or stay the night in the hotel that’s coming soon. Johnston Town Center envisions bringing activity to the heart of Johnston and supporting its local economy while acting as a gathering place for residents and visitors alike.
