‘ve lived a very routine life here in Wichita and been perfectly fine with it, but as I have aged, I’ve felt the pull to do something out of the ordinary. Do you know what I mean? Something not-so-commonplace, another check mark on my “bucket list”? Well, believe it or not, Wichita does offer those opportunities, if you’re willing to look for them. Here’s one example:
I am afraid (make that petrified!) of heights and always said that anybody who intentionally jumps out of a perfectly good airplane is NUTS. Well, you can now officially call me “NUTS”. For my 60th birthday my husband bought me a gift certificate to Air Capital Drop Zone, located on Cook Field near Wichita (between Derby & Rose Hill). My first words were, “What??? Skydiving??? Are you crazy???” However, after much thought and a promise from a friend to go with me, I decided I didn’t want to be so ordinary anymore. Suffice it to say, something I had feared my whole life turned out to be one of my most exhilarating experiences ever. I do believe it has changed me, made me more willing to take chances…..except when it comes to eating exotic foods, but that’s a story for another day.
