Sunflower Trail & Festival

I

had a great weekend back home. I make plans to attend the Sunflower Trail & Festival in June every year as I grew up just north of Gilliam in Hosston, LA. This past weekend was amazing. Traditional to June in Louisiana, it was hot, but the trail ride was beautiful. The Meat Pies came in first place.

Local farmers grow a variety of crops including cotton, corn, soybeans, sweet potatoes, sunflowers and more. The height and beauty of the sunflowers attracted so many visitors the town decided to create a festival in their honor. People tour the fields of sunflowers while enjoying the live entertainment and hands-on activities for children and families.

Tomorrow, back to the grindstone, but the weekend diversion was well worth it
