ne of the first things that you learn living on Long Island is our strong ties to the past. You learn to pronounce the strange names which are deep rooted in our Native American Heritage. Names such as Manhasset, Massapequa, and Poquott. Hauppauge is one of these names.
Hauppauge is a hamlet. A hamlet is a geographic area which is unincorporated. In the case of Hauppauge, it is split between two towns, Islip and Smithtown. There are many reasons Hauppauge is a great place to live. It enjoys the benefits of having one of the largest industrial parks in the United States. This provides the residents with one of the lowest residential tax rates on Long Island. The industrial park generates substantial income for the Hauppauge School District making it very highly rated and desirable.
However, I would like to point out another reason that I am proud to be associated with Hauppauge. On the grounds of H. Lee Dennison Suffolk County Executive Building, there is a Memorial Park that recognizes often over looked American heroes. It is named the “Armed Forces Plaza”. There you can find the following monuments:
It is with humble admiration that I work in the Hamlet of Hauppauge and I can bring to your attention this very important Memorial Park. Please visit it at your earliest convince and honor these heroes.

o you ever stop and ask yourself, where can I live that’s close to everything but still offers a little bit of seclusion with a dose of great community? Well, I have an answer for you – Pine Grove Subdivision. There are three great communities, The Meadows, The Pointe, and The Limited. We are tucked out of the way so we don’t get a lot of strange traffic through the neighborhood and if we do it’s noticed pretty quickly. I say “we” because I live here. I was one of the earlier residents. I have been here for over 10 years and I really enjoy it.
We have some great amenities that you won’t find everywhere. There is a huge Olympic sized pool with tennis court, playground, basketball court, sand volleyball and a workout facility. Everything is very accessible and never to crowded so it can be enjoyed by all.
There is a great range of pricing options to fit an array of budgets and family makeup. If you haven’t taken the time please come take a look. I think you’ll be surprised. I know that I was.

ears ago when I moved to Milltown, I remember hearing the fire engine roaring through town. After about 10 minutes I really began to worry that something really serious was afoot. As the sound grew closer I ran to my window. To my surprise, it was Santa Claus on his big red fire truck, throwing candy canes and broadcasting holiday tunes from his perch! I thought to myself. Wow! What a town! He had a bright spot light shining on him that made the scene all the more magical as he was driven through town, giving every girl and boy the chance to see jolly ole Santa.
Christmas is definitely in the air and taking the kids into New York City to visit the tree sounds amazing this time of year. The bitter cold weather challenges that spirit, however, when you have small children to consider. Luckily, Milltown has its very own tree lighting at Borough Hall on Friday, December 5 at 6:00 pm. This includes a visit from Santa Claus and 7:00 pm. There will be hot chocolate and carols will be sung. It’s a fun time for family and a great chance for the kids to see their friends from school. It’s a great time to visit and feel the family spirit, that is ever present, in this great, all-American, small town!
