k, so I rolled into town just a little past 11:00 a.m. – and Shidler was buzzing. It was “that” Saturday. You know, the Shidler Annual Car Show Saturday – that only happens in Osage County once a year – but when it happens, you don’t want to miss it! Barn doors roll open, garage doors get raised – elbow grease and wax rags have been put to good use, and you could comb your hair in the chrome as these beauties make their way to northwestern Osage County for this annual event.
It’s a time when car buffs and car clubs bring their best and their “babies” out for debut and exhibition. It’s a who’s who of auto aficionados! From revved-up motors to restored Ramblers – pickups to Pontiacs – convertibles to hatchbacks – folks come to see it all, admire the details, discuss the process, and maybe even dicker a sale or two while they’re there! This year it was beautiful weather and folks were out visiting and enjoying hot dogs and hamburgers, hot rods, and humdingers like these:
I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Chris Cox of Hominy and the owner of the General Lee!! He even told me John Schneider has done a little hot-rodding in this very car! From Mustangs to Mercuries…And just about everything in between… with over 100 entries, you could step back in time and get the feel behind the wheel of timeless classics. Hats off to the Shidler Chamber of Commerce for a job well-done!!! I pulled into town and had to park two blocks away and walk to the park where this shindig was going down. When this gal pulls up and folks are parked for blocks away from an event – it’s a good thing, y’all!
