Small Town Christmas Traditions

L

ive Christmas trees with colored lights line the median in downtown Wedowee every year! Growing up in a small town has so many perks and I have looked forward to this tradition every year since I was a little girl! I was also happy to hear that our new “state of the art” hospital, Tanner Medical Center – East Alabama, will carry on the tradition of the now closed Wedowee Hospital with the Tree of Lights. The tradition allows any one to purchase a light for the tree in honor of, in remembrance of, or in recognition of someone special. Thank you to the Auxiliary of Tanner Medical Center for continuing this thoughtful tradition! Be sure not to miss the Christmas Parade downtown because Santa Claus always makes an appearance that night!

Exciting New Community with a Rich History

I

t almost seems like the sounds of the Mortimer Jordan High School marching Blue Devil band can still be heard. The smell of freshly-popped popcorn still lingers in the air! Cheerleaders are cheering and the crowds are roaring! It’s football season in Morris, Alabama and the Jimmie Trotter Stadium is the place to be! Just memories now…only memories.

The almost century-old Mortimer Jordan High School has been relocated to a multi-million dollar, state-of-the-art campus several miles away. The old Jimmie Trotter Stadium, named for the iconic coach and principal has been dismantled. What remains is a legendary field of dreams!

The legacy will continue, though. This is the setting for an exciting new residential community:  Trotter Parc. Described as a “boutique community with outdoor gathering spaces, timeless floor plans and amenities,” Trotter Parc offers homes starting in the $180’s.

Why Diamondhead?

I

will be the first person to tell you, prior to my real estate career, I wasn’t ever an advocate for living in Diamondhead. Honestly, I’m a transplant. I grew up in South East Texas and fell in love with Southern Mississippi while traveling for work and moved here. After changing careers and setting up a permanent office in Diamondhead, I’ve fallen in love with this town.

Diamondhead is a community founded around the time Interstate 10 was built through Mississippi. The town has two beautiful golf courses, multiple swimming pools, parks, playgrounds, dedicated green space – everywhere, and has covenants in place to protect your investment. To the naked eye, you’ll miss all that Diamondhead has to offer, but I encourage you to take a tour of our community. You won’t be disappointed.
