Did You Know You Can Learn to Scuba Dive in Oklahoma?

I

t is interesting to note that Oklahoma’s Lake Tenkiller has a premier scuba diving park. Established in 2005 in cooperation with the Department of Tourism & Recreation,  this dive park has many different underwater features to explore. There is a school bus, a Coast Guard helicopter, and many other boats and monuments to see. I have provided a link below with a map of the various objects that have been placed into the lake at different depths to provide something for every skill level. There are two dive shops located nearby that can provide for all of your dive supplies, rentals, and instruction. The diving season starts in May when the water temperature begins to rise again. I challenge you to make it a goal this year to get to the bottom of the lake and spend some time getting certified in the exciting sport of recreational scuba diving. For more information on learning how to get started with scuba diving contact OkieScuba.com, Gene’s Aqua Pro’s at 918-487-5221, and Nautical Adventures at 918-457-3483.

Saline Is a Wonderful Place to Live

L

ocated five minutes from Ann Arbor, Saline is a small community, with a population of about 9,000. I was lucky enough to enjoy living in Saline for many years. I lived on the river overlooking the dam. I loved taking my dogs to the dog park at Mill Pond Park, walking downtown to its many delicious restaurants, attending the fairs, farmers markets, music in the park, and the school functions. Saline schools are highly rated and their extracurricular opportunities are wide, varied, and top-notch. The community is tight-knit and inclusive. Newcomers are drawn to its proximity to Ann Arbor and highly sought after school district. They soon find that Saline is a lovely community, offering the charm of a small-town with educational excellence, and a tight-knit community with the wonderful yearly event such as the annual Celtic Festival, drawing thousands of people from Southeast Michigan and beyond.

Pickleball Fun on Long Island

I

f you are looking for something fun and new on Long Island, get in the game with some Pickleball, the fastest growing sport in America. I know what you are thinking…what is Pickleball? Well, it is a cross between ping-pong, tennis, and badminton. To play, you need a Wiffle ball, a paddle that is bigger than a ping-pong paddle, a net that is a few inches shorter than a standard tennis net, and a badminton size court.

Pickleball is quickly becoming the hottest sport in the United States because it is a social sport that can be played in pairs or couples, it is very easy to learn, it can be played indoors/outdoors all year round, and is easy on the joints. At the same time, Pickleball is also an athletic game because it gets your heart pumpin’, challenges your reflexes, and is fast-paced. This is even a competitive sport because there are Pickleball tournaments held all across the United States. There are lots of places on Long Island to play, such as Pickle N Par in Melville, Brookhaven Parks and Recreation in Centereach, or Francis P. Kelly Park in Lake Grove. So come on out and join the fun this 2021!
